Self-Storage Unit Sizes - How Much Space Do You Need?

When it comes to self-storage units, size doesn't just matter - it's everything. You don't want to pay more for a storage space that will only sit half full when you can pay less for a smaller self-storage unit with all its space maximized.

It's all about picking the right size and knowing how to manage the space you have to let you fit all the things you need to put in storage. Not to worry though, there are a lot of self-storage unit sizes to choose from and almost all will provide you with enough space to store your things. The sizes also increase in just the right increments so that you never have too much or too little space; of which every square inch ought to be worth every cent you spend for it.

Outback Storage offers units in a wide range of sizes, from 5 x 5 to 10 x 30, to fit your storage needs. Please visit our UNIT SIZES page under STORAGE INFO in the navigation bar to learn about what generally fits into each of our unit sizes.

For example, our 5 x 10 unit offers the following:

5 x 10 - 50 sq. ft. - Furnishing from a one bedroom apartment

Suggested Storage: One or two rooms of furniture, bicycles, boxes, mattress and box spring and other small items

Suggested Supplies: 6 large boxes, 4 medium boxes, 8 small boxes, 2 rolls tape, 1 box wrapping paper, 5 packs bubble wrap

Just click on the various unit sizes on the right of the page and you will see a diagram at the top of the page for that unit size along with suggestions of how the space can best be used. If you need further assistance, please don't hesistate to contact any of our locations. We will be glad to answer your questions and to help you select the unit that is best for you.

Learn the Benefits of Storing Your Business Records in a Self Storage Facility

Today we are faced with increased rent costs not only for our homes but even more critically for our business and because of this self storage and mini storage facilities are becoming more and more popular for storage of important business documents that are critical to our business and need to be kept for legal reasons.

Store Your Business Records In Self Storage

With property rentals climbing, you have options to consider when you're looking for record storage and a self storage unit could be the key to your ongoing storage needs. Even a facility that might seem too large today can benefit you in the long run. Businesses large and small have record keeping requirements that are self imposed or even posed by the states where we do business.

Self Storage Could Save Your Business $1,400 Per Month

Consider the expense that would be involved in renting additional office space to store records. You could easily spend upwards of $1,500 a month to rent additional office space for the mere reason of storing records or you could spend $100 or less a month to rent a self storage or mini storage unit to store those same records.

Business Records Are Safe In Self Storage Facilities

One of the advantages of self storage and mini storage units is that they're often less subject to water, fire and environmental damages that can occur in an office environment. Most mini storage and self storage facilities offer air tight or very protected environments where as office buildings are largely open to the elements of air pollution, have a higher potential of break ins (causing records to be destroyed) and may have a higher potential of fire or water damage that simply are less common in self storage and mini storage facilities.

Save Your Valuable Office Space For Business Expansion

You can easily chose to store outdated records in your current office of course, but the fact of the matter is that they can take up valuable space that prevents you from expanding your in house employees, setting up additional waiting areas for clients and even adding additional computer equipment. You certainly have the option of renting additional office space but the bottom line is that it's far more cost effective for you to rent mini storage space or self storage space than it is to rent additional office space which will result in you needing to pay not just additional rental expenses but also heating expenses and electric expenses.

Keeping Your Homeowner's Association Happy

So, you've finally made enough money to buy that boat you've always wanted, but your HOA doesn't allow you to place it in your own yard. Maybe you decided that it's time to start collecting cars, but your neighborhood only allows parking for two. What on Earth are you to do with your extra stuff? The experts at Outback Self Storage may have a few suggestions.

Some neighborhoods, cities, counties, and HOA’s prohibit the storing of non-running vehicles in the yard or anywhere on the property. That would be a call for self storage of those vehicles until you decide what you will do with them.
